I have a 1987 20ft starcraft, with a 110 hp johnson. When I get the boat up on a plane it seems like the boat is still setting to deep in the water, over 3/4 of the boat is still in the water, the spray from the boat starts up around the windshield, on a windy day the spray will get me at the steering wheel. The cavatation plate on the motor is about even with the bottom of the boat, but I'm wondering if the motor is set right or if I should try adding Jack Plates and try playing with it. Has anybody had this problem?

Re: Jack Plates

Sounds to me like a made-to-order application for a hydrofoil.

The setback provided by a jackplate can also help if combined with a hydrofoil.

I recommend the SE Sport 300. If you want to go the extra bux for a setback, I recommend a fixed (non-adjustable) 4" setback plate.

Good luck. :)

Re: Jack Plates

JB
Thanks for the feedback. I've used hydrofoils on other boats but never thought about it for this problem. Was thinking I would have to ajust the motor up or down thus the Jack Plates. The hydrofoil could be a quick and easy fix. It will probly be a couble of weeks, but will let you know how it works out.
Thanks Again DE

Sailors Delight
