Re: Jack Plates

I added height to my transom for my longshaft motor. I ripped down a piece of 2x2 to match the width of my existing transom. I then literally soaked it in waterproof stain. I then glued and screwed 2 pieces of 1/4" plywood to each side of the 2x2 after I soaked them in a pan of waterproof stain.

This plywood rig then slid over my existing transom (the inside was fitted down to the floor of the boat and the outside was shorter to keep the plywood out of the water and above the water level) and I then bolted it to my existing transom and then painted over it in a high gloss urethane paint to match the boat.

When the motor is mounted you don't even notice it unless your looking for it.

Cheapest way to hand a 40 hp twin cylinder mariner on my aluminum boat. It handles everything quite well too!!

Best of luck brah!
