I have a 1994 Nitro 2000 DC with a 175hp Mercury efi. I am wanting to install a Hydraulic jackplate but I am not sure what set back to use. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to iboats.

WHY? Do you fish shallows or are you looking for more speed? I have used jack plates on bass boats and once I find that sweet spot ......I never moved the plate. The manual ones are cheaper.......and not hard to adjust. Make sure your steering cable is slack enough to be set back that extra space.

iboats sells the CMC cmc and Bob's Machine Shop makes some very good ones too. The performance gain is marginal and you are just a bit above the 225 hp max for that hull with a 175.

I do fish shallow water and need to be able to take off in 2 feet or so of water. This heavy boat has a hard enough time doing that. I got an 6" setback atlas I am going to try and get on there next week. I have a tournament tommrow and I want to have enough time to play around with it. I am not sure about my steering tho. I still have the dual cable. I know there is enough slack but I am not sure if I will be able to make the bend or not one the jack plate is on.

Re: Jackplate Question

Jack plates normally help on top end and when planed out....... not sure they will help with a shallow water start.... maybe?
