jackplate?

i have a 2005 kenner 2103 vision with a 97 merc 225 efi offshore running a 14 3/4 x 21 prop it ran 50 mph at 5000 rpm
running a 14 3/4 x 24 it done the same or very close
would putting a jackplate on this boat have a noticable difference? and what size

Were the props same brand same style? Al. or ss?I'm not sure what the max rpm is on the 225 but I think it is higher than 5,000.I would guess 5300-5,500.So usually you would be looking for less pitch or less cup to get your rpm within your rated range.Can't help you much on the jack plate but typically they get the motor in cleaner water so you can run higher and faster with less complications.A jack plate might help get closer to the rated rpm.Simply raising the motor on the transom could improve things as well ,if you haven't allready done so.
