Re: Jay Bennish

My 10 year old came home yesterday and said "nicotine is the most addictive drug in the world". Neither of us are smokers, but this P's me O. I told him to tell his teacher that I would prefer him to smoke at 10 than be a heroin addict at 18 . . . He won't do it, but when will these people get a handle on moral equivalency?

Here is my list of priorities for a 10 year old:

1) Behave properly
2) Have fun
3) ? I'm still thinking

More Questionable thought. ;)
Reminds me of the boy who came home from school and when his Daddy asked him what he learned, he replied "we learned about the kinds of gin".
His dad went up in the air, "What! teaching you about gin? let's see there is Gordons, Gilbeys..."
No, No, Daddy. Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen....

The American Indoctrination system. Cigarettes bad should be illegal. Pot good, should be made legal?

George Bush bad, JFK role model.

I listened to the whole thing and I am convinced that this has nothing to do with geography, and this guy needs therapy and to be kept away from kids. But he is a teacher, good luck trying to fire him.

I didn't realize the guy was a Geography teacher! What's all that got to do with Geography?

If this guy hates America so much, why doesnt he move to one of those communist countries?
Because he's trying to make this country a communist country! That way he doesn't have to pack. And he probably can't find the communist countries on the map!

I guess his teacher should have told him that nicotine isnt addictive then.........

I dont think that by telling a kid nicotine is the most addictive drug in the world the teacher is endorsing the use of heroin...........Did the teacher sy that Heroin isnt???

I give props for the teacher actually. Cigs are a gateway to everything else. Why not stop it at the begining? Being closer to the subject age group than most here I can tell you that smoking leads to A LOT of bad stuff.

Re: Jay Bennish

Pony,

I think that as a geography teacher, he might think about teaching some geography. Does that make Stalin a wholesome leader based on the fact he didn't import American cigarettes?

1.) Nicotine isn't the most addictive drug. It may be the most frequently used addictive substance. But that isn't what he said. (To the best of my memory)

2.) Geography class.

3.) Cigarettes are legal!!!!

4.) Schools won't teach abstainance as it applies to sex but when it comes to cigs, Katy bar the door? Come on....

5.) Geography class not indoctrination class.

Right on Pony and I have worked with troubled teens as a youth leader and every single one of them caught up in drugs started with smoking first......Oh by the way.....same for me started smoking at 12 by 13-14 tryed drinkin and gettin high.....by the time I was 18 I was a druggy lush.......How many of you on here tryed quiting smoking.....was it easy ....nope.....He did right by saying its that addictive......from what I understand it has always been considered just as addictive as heroin......The rest of the garbage this guys spews is just "CARP" as some may call it on here:D I home school my Kids for this very reason.......

Re: Jay Bennish

Pointer,
I agree with you in terms of what this Colorado teacher is saying. Its Geography not Poli Sci, not to mention the audience is a bunch of high school kids. He was way out of line, whether anyone agrees with his synopsis or not.......its not the place for him to express his own political theory......in a college political science lecture maybe as college students can normally take his opinions with a grain of salt.

My comments were more about QC being upset with his kids teacher.

I know cigs are legal as is drinking.........but not for high school kids and certainly not 10 year olds. When of age it becomes their choice obviously, but I still hold to my belief that kids need to know that nicotine is incredibly addictive and that id CAN lead to much much worse drugs.

I don't have a problem with anything the teacher said.....
He stated & disclaimed that it was for discussion purposes, & that they should draw their own conclusions.....
Hmmmm? I wonder why I expected nothing less here. If what this guy did was OK, let's have all the teachers spew the same anti-American hatred and see how long it takes this country to tank.

I for one am glad that liberalism is on the rocks in this country. The above statement is a prime example of why.
