How far down on the transom can you mount the smart tab's?
From the side of the boat that is.

Re: Jdeagro, Question

You can move in as far as you want as long as you do not interfere with the outdrive or motor. You will have better stability with them mounted as far outboard as possible. You will still get all other benefits with them closer to the center. Is there a mounting issue on your boat, maybe some photos would help with answers.
Do a search on this board for Smart Tabs or Trim Tabs, you will have plenty of material on installation and operation.

Re: Jdeagro, Question

Ok, finally got up the ca-who-na's, to drill holes in the boat below the waterline.
This is what they look like. Basically the only place I could mount them because of a custom swim platform.

Now. The problem I'm having is where the actuator is mounted on the top.
I can only go about 23 degree's down on that ridge of the boat.
Now if I were to go down one ridge on the boat to mount the top of the actuator, it would put me at 30 degree's at the shallowest position.
I chose the lesser of two evils.
My question is.....Do they make an extention for the actuator so I can set the tab in the center hole at the 25 degree's? I'm guessing I need about a good 2 inches longer of total length.
Thanks all.

P.S. I'll resize all future img's to make them more friendly.

Re: Jdeagro, Question

Remove that fin off of the drive, you do not want both on there.

Pierutrus;

Remove the hydrofoil!

I would like to know why you put the actuator in hole #5 which is the stiffest position. This will not make the tabs deploy more. It only increases the pressure. Also, if you can call or email me I will send you some additional hardware which will make it easier to adjust the tabs (pressure).

Re: Jdeagro, Question

Wow, still no reply from Jdeagro or Nuaticus on my emails or posting's.
Wonder if they are on vacation!
Anyway, I need about 3/4" more of length on the actuator to get the 25* for the center hole. The second pic is to show that I did in fact remove the hydrofoil.
