Is a jet powered boat inherently more dangerous than a traditional propeller powered boat? Would a jet powered boat have a greater ecological impact? More prone to killing small fish, stirring up the lake bottom, ect.?

Re: Jet Powered Boats

I would not worry about killing little fish. If one little fish dies, it will not hurt the population, if one big female musky ready to spawn gets nailed by a prop., you can figure it out from there. As far as stirring up the bottom it is a matter to the user, I you are in shallow water it will cause a stirring, I dont think as much as a prop due to the shallow configuration of the impeller vs. prop.
Safety: your on your own, I would have to say a little more dangerous but that really comes down to the driver.

gjleidolf

Both have pros and cons.. props can make a mess
out of hands and feet... but are more efficient.
pumps are safer in that way but use more fuel.
Either one in shallow water will tear things up
if you just nail it. Most of us when in shallow
water just idle out to deeper water before
getting up on step.

Link
