I have a 1990 25 hp rope start Johnson. The previous owner had the marina install a 30 hp intake manifold and 30 hp carburetor. This motor starts great but seems to run rich (vibration) for the first 1/3 of the throtle. After passing approximately the 1/3 position on the throtle it smooths out and runs great. I have tried adjusting the low speed needle but this didn't help. I was wondering if it would be to my advantage to install Boyesen 2 stage reeds.

Re: Joe Reeves-advice

reeds will not do much on this small engine. just keep turning down low jet until motor stops, then adjust jet. if motor does not stop , need carb rebuild, getting fuel some place else in carbs.
