I lived in south Florida in the early 80s when Adam Walsh, age 6, was stolen, murdered and beheaded by someone who is still unknown.

What has John Walsh, Adam's Dad, done with his grief, disappointment and rage in the last 20 years?

Did he sink into a bottle in an orgy of self pity? Did he withdraw from the world? Did he use his public recognition to run for office?

Here is what he did.

He bullied congress and the FBI until a federal bill was passed to form a national child registry to which parents could list their children and through which law enforcement agencies could share information.

He hosted a popular reality show on TV that found and imprisoned more than 600 wanted felons and found, alive, 23 missing children.

He now hosts a TV show that examines and helps victims deal with a variety of crimes.

He wrote a best selling book, "Tears of Rage" to tell his story to, and inspire, bereaved parents and parents of missing children.

How easy it would have been for him to settle into a role of victim and point his finger at whose fault his grief is.

Victim? Certainly. American Hero? That too.

RIGHT ON JB!!!Just yesterday morning on the way to help a friend move the top radio station in the Twin Cities (KQ) re-aired a segment where Walsh talked with my neighbor Brian Guimond whose son Josh is FIVE MONTHS MISSING.The statistics he quoted were staggering. The advice he gave obviously came from his heart and YEARS of dealing with HIS and THOUSANDS of other people's loss.We could certainly use a couple of MILLION more doing the same.I,for one, will certainly NEVER forget JOSH.>>>>>www.findjoshua.com

Couldn't agree more with comments on Mr. Walsh. He moved past his personal tragedy and has helped a lot of people.

Yes, he definitely deserves our admiration.
Who could live with such tragedy, and yet help
bring hope and understanding to so many.

Indeed, I read about his tragedy. This is not a fair world we live in but he's made it better.

I have the utmost respect for John Walsh. I met him In Houston about a year after Adam's disappearance. He had gone to school with my boss, they were very good friends.

The strength and fortitude of John Walsh has been unbelievable. He remains in my mind as one of the finest people I've ever had the privledge of meeting.
