I have a 1980 Johnson 115 that seems to be dropping a cylinder (or two?) at low RPMs when I'm either in neutral, or heading slowly out of the Marina. I had a real lack of tools with me, so I didn't have much of a chance to diagnose while out at the lake. I did change the plugs, and the problem still continued.
When I prime the bulb and start the boat cold, it'll always idle and run fine. After letting it warm up, and head out of the Marina, it sounds like it drops a cylinder...If I throttle up a little, it seems to kick back in and run fine again. I'm new to outboards, but based on that, it seems to me like it might be a fuel related issue..? Also, while taking the boat out onto the lake, It stated to sputter and stalled, as if I ran out of fuel. I cranked the engine, and it wouldn't start...went to the back of the motor, and the primer bulb was completely empty. I squeezed it a couple times, boat fired right up, and never stalled again for the rest of the day.
