Johnson 115 tach

I'm trying to find out how much voltage i should read at the gray lead coming from the bus bar at the rectifier and going to the tach. Also, i believe it should be AC voltage on this line, is that correct? The motor is charging but the tach doesnt work and i'm trying to narrow down the problem. thank you.
