I have a 1990 johnson 115 v4 it seems to run fine but when you hammer it it does not wined up very fast. it has a 17 pitch stainless steal prop. could old plugs or maybe bad gas cause this? or maybe carbs need cleaned?

Yes, all of them. I'd probably check the compression and spark first. If you know you have good compression and a hot spark on all 4 cyls, then you can start checking for fuel issues.

Thanks a lot for the replays. I am gonna do a compression test tomorrow. I just bought new plugs and wires for it. water log that makes seance but how much foam is in a bass boat? its a bayliner bass trophy 18ft. plugs did not look good and wires were horrible so I am hoping that is what it is.
