hey guys, i recently mounted a new water/fuel seperator for my '96 Johnson 130 since the boat didnt have one. The water/fuel filter has 3/8" fittings. The old existing fuel line was 1/2" from the tank fitting to the primer bulb. The line from the exit of the primer bulb that runs up into the motor was 3/8". I'm not sure why they would use two different line sizes??.. I'm going to replace the fuel line off the tank. I already bought the 3/8" line. Will i be ok with the 3/8? i rather not have to pull the fittings off the seperator and buy new but if the 3/8 wont be adequate i will. what do you think?
thanks

3/8 should work just fine; that's what my 150hp is running on.

3/8 is what you want. The 1/2 from the tank would just be a decision that the manufacturer or a previous owner made for some unknown reason. Maybe 1/2 was on sale? Put the primer bulb before the new filter that way you don't have any extra breaks in it that can sluff off chunks of rubber into your carbs. You want the lines after the filter to be as clean and unhacked has possible.

edit: fyi i'm running smaller 5/16 on my 1990 140 with no issues

Take it out and bring it to a marina, west marine, boater's world, walmart, etc. It can be tempting to use auto parts at times but resist.
