Re: Johnson 130hp oceanpro thermostats
I follow a similar routine to Angus.
Every second season (roughly, depending on hours) I change my water pump and t stats at the same time. This is because I like to flush my cooling system with compressed air from the water line to the t stat housing, then back down, 1 t stat at a time. (V6) On the off years, carbs get cleaned. Then new plugs, lu oil(gaskets) and decarb every year.
I feel budgeting and proper maintainence are important to the life of an outboard. I realize that I could probably get a longer life span out of some of the components, but Im a bit anal when it comes to that. I also feel that neglecting these major components of an outboard lead to alot of the troubleshooting that you see on this forum everyday.
Of course, this is my own humble opinion.
