I could use some help with my problem. I have a Johnson 150 hp outboard and it will not idle at low throttle. It has been sitting for @1 and half years. There is new gas in it and it was serviced before storage. Please help...
Thanks Patty1963

Re: Johnson 150hp Idle

What is the idle set at? Should be 650 to 750 RPM under load in gear.

Is it running for a certain amount of time, then dying off? Will pumping the fuel primer bulb keep her running?

What about spraying pre mixed fuel into the carb throats? Choking it? The carbs likely need to be bathed/rebuilt. See the FAQ for a thread by Tashasdaddy regarding this.

Patty, 99% it has gas still in the carbs, when it was stored. this gas has turned to varnish, and has your carbs crudded up. suggest complete dismantleing carbs, soaking, cleaning, and reassembly with rebuild kits.
