Re: Johnson 15hp, 15BA79E, kilswitch
Hi, If you look at the back of the stop switch, there are two wires going into it. The stop button works by making contact on two little lugs these wires are attached to. they complete the circuit and it shorts out the ignition system. The motor stops running. I'm guessing you want to install a kill switch, that has the clip and lanyard that goes on a button, Correct? You can install that switch in two ways. 1. You can drill a new hole someplace where the new switch will fit and not interfere with the working of the motor, and splice the wires into the wires for the stop switch. THis way both are still there. Or 2. You can remove stop switch and and use that hole to mount the kill switch. You can cut the two stop wires and splice the kill switch wires into them. Or get the correct end terminals to connect them to the wiring.
