I bought an 18 hp parts motor and would like to make sure it lines up with my 1965 Fd-19 but the plate has been removed from the transom mount. Power head has the number 0509609 stamped on it. Can that send me to the year?
that serial number does not make sense. Is this a Canadian built motor by chance? A serial number that low would put it in 1946, which it obviously isn't.
Yup, I am up in Thunder Bay Canada. Helluva deal for 2 18's I could not pass up. Is the lower unit compatible through that same period? Seems to me it changes in the early 70's
It is white.---That means itt is 66 or older.-----If it is marked 18 then it is 64 / 65 model.-----Great motors to own due to ease of repairs and parts interchangeability year after year !!
You are just north of me. Great pound for pound motors! Definitely built in the Peterborough plant with those serial numbers. I can pin point it for you, but def '64 or '65
Awesome. Now my biggest problem is I have one too many of them since the one parts motor I wanted to buy came in a package of two of them.thanks again.
Many folks can not accept the idea of ----" They don't build them like that any more "----These 22 cubic inch motors are a very clear example of this.---They will be running long after the new plastic parts motors are gone to land fill.
