I Have Broken Engine Down For Rebuild , Dose The Crank Case Block Get A Sealant Or Do They Go Back Together Dry?

If So What Should I Seal Them Two Part Of Block With?


Next Question Shift Shaft Bushing, Can This Be Changed Without Removing Shift Shaft?

The crankcase halves need a very thin coating of flange sealant. I use Permatex flange sealant, which is the same as Loctite 515 I think.

You must remove the shift shaft to remove the bushing. However, if you are going to replace the shift shaft seal you might as well do all the lower unit seals, which requires that you dismantle the lower unit anyway.
