I'm at wits end!! I have a 1991 Johnson J150NXEI with a 513031 Encoder Wheel. It has a hairline crack in it. Seems to be an obsolete part and only fits 1991. Anybody have any suggestions?? 1991 Evinrude uses the same one.
Thank You

So what is your motor doing / not doing ?----I think I would repair this crack if it was indeed a problem.

At idle, with timing light, it stumbles for a split second. At the point of the stumble, timing jumps 5 degrees. New optical, CDI pack, CDI wires and champion plugs. Does not stall and runs super strong under load. Only thing I'm concerned about is the CDI instuctions say not to use with a black stator. Says to use with a gray. Charging voltage is 14.5.

What's the difference between the black stator and gray stator ??

You have to be really careful in blaming this encoder wheel for your motor issues.----Perhaps find the real problem with more trouble shooting.----Replacing parts gets expensive , but does give you an inventory of good spare parts at home.

The early models didn't have shift interrupter and used black sleeve pack, stator and eye, grey was series 2 upgrade.
