Johnson 225 outboard tbl

Johnson 225 horse ,starts ok idles, when i put it in gear and apply throttle it dies a couple of times before i can throttle it up.always starts back up? Carbs have been cleaned -no help! Seems to go into reverse at idle but forward it stalls .when i get it running high rpms are ok!

What's your idle speed when in the water in gear. A model # would also help ???

when first putting in forward it dies n restarts a couple of times .noticed the idle when coming back to the dock in neutral-1000 n drops to 800 .fluctuated,n sounds off.its a 2000 ocean pro.never had a tbl til now.

A lot of the newer V6 motors have a shift assist switch. This switch kills spark to one bank of cylinders. On my '98 the shift assist switch is a PIA. When shifting from forward to neutral, it will sometimes stick and the motor will stall.

thanks -sounds a possability.because into reverse is ok but into forward -kaput a couple of times.

shift intrupter switch could be bad.u can unplug it and if ur idle is low enough wont need it

shift interupter switch could be bad .had 2 go. if ur idle is low u wont need it. un plug it n see1 THEY DONT MAKE A REPLACEMENT ANYMORE.

Fact------That switch is available in my opinion.----- Just not not as a " plug and play" out of the package.------It is used on other models with different length wires.----Therefor a different part # is used.-----A competent person can easily make it work !
