Johnson 225 powerpack output

I read a post on here some time ago about using a multimeter for peak voltage readings. I believe the procedure was to set meter to AC and multiply reading by 1.414. This was for a sensor coil output test. Will this also work for powerpack output test and running output test or will I cook the meter?<br />Thanks.

Should work, set meter on 500 volts.
