You’re saying that I should try having the fast idle lever all the way up, before I ever try turning the key?

Your starting procedure should be as follows:
#1 Pump primer bulb till hard
#2 move fast idle lever up: Adjust as needed after it starts
#3 push key in and turn to start

Yes, that’s the procedure I’ve been following.
When I lift up the fast idle lever, you’re saying it should be Pulling the throttle linkage? I just checked mine, and when I lift up the lever, it does not do that.

Ok now get a manual because you need to take the box apart. Take the 2 bolts out of the box to take it off the boat. take the handle off and remove the 3 bolts that hold the 2 halves together

Agreed ----Post # 5 says there may be something wrong with the motor or linkages.-----When you raise the warm up lever all the way the timing should advance a wee bit and throttle should open a wee bit.----Up to you to check this out !!!

I'll bet there is a part inside the shift/throttle lever which is broken. Parts are made of plastic/nylon and eventually break with age. Ask me how I know.

Okay, so my controller Box is the problem. My fast idle lever is very loose. I wanted to ask you all for your advice. Is there a website you may know of where I can buy new parts for the controller box, or could I just replace the whole box completely?

In in the past, I’ve used marine engine .com to buy and replace several parts that are specific to my make and model, but I’d like to ask you all for your advice on where I could find some replacement parts for my controller?

New box is expensive - like $500. I found a used one at a Johnnyrude repair place for $200, and went that route. Parts are available but I believe the parts I needed were around $75-80, so I just bought the entire unit.
