I own a 2002 25hp 2stroke Johnson and have 2 maintainence questions.

1) How do you torque the the lower bolts on the head. Can't fit my torque wrench in there. Do you use a small torque wrench or a crows foot?

2) The grease fitting on the shift shaft will not accept any grease. I checked the fitting itself and it is fine, any other suggestions?

Try a crows foot. Take the grease fitting out and shoot grease through it. If that does not work then you probable have dried out contaminated grease in the socket. In that case you will need to dig it out.

1) You're going to need to put some sort of an extension on your torque wrench. I usually end up using a monkey wrench, but a crow's foot would work well too. Either way, you're going to have to recalculate the torque setting on the wrench.

Grab this windows program:
Torque Calculator
Before attempting to use it, have a look under "Torque Tips->When to use the Extension Calculator"

It's important to understand what to measure. Try it on a test fastener till you get a feel for it.

When trying to grease the shaft try working the shaft back and fourth while pumping the grease gun. Thats always worked for me.
