I have a 1979 Johnson 25EL79R that was used as a remote from a console. I would like to convert it from a wheel to a tiller. I have been looking around for a tiller handle, but with no luck. I am looking for any help, ideas, or suggestions on how about doing this. Thanks!

rigsha97, I looked up your engine and can see how everything fits together. But sadly those parts are no longer available, as new anyway. But you could search some of the boat salvage yards and see if you could either buy the parts you need or the whole engine as a parts engine. You could even see if the part numbers for your engine are the same for other engines and that would give you more engines to get parts from... JMHO!

Have to agree that the easiest and cheapest way to do it would be to find a blown up parts engine to strip what you need. I can find those around my area pretty regularly for as little as $100.00 and sometimes for even less.

Google Laing's Outboards in North Tonawanda, NY and give him a call. His back room filled with parts is amazing.

Second choice is Doug Penn's Used Parts in Branson....417-334-2720.....www.penn.itgo.com
