I've just bought a 1975 Johnson 25hp outboard, serial: 25502B.
It came with a tiller and I don't seem to be able to find any info on how to convert it to remote control...and if it can, how much of it can be converted.
It's currently a pull-start only.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

It can be done but you will need a number of parts to do it. Most of those type motors were designed to use a cable and pully steering system that uses a bracket that attaches to the front of the motor. There are kits out there to convert to a telefex type steering. Search for "Stick steering" and you should find a few posts with pictures that will show this.

Next you will need a control box for the throttle and shifter along with the clips that mount on the motor which I see yours doen't have. There are 2 of these, one for each side of the motor. If you look at your picture you will see 2 screw holes just past were the tiller swivels up. That is were the throttle clip would connect. Should be 2 holes in the cowling on the other side for the shift.

As for changing the motor to electric start, big job, hard to get all the parts unless you can salvage parts from a donor motor. Personally I'd leave it alone.
