Hi, i need help with my 2hp Johnson 1976 (model: 2R76S).
Engine has been in garage for 10 years and now has no spark, i suspect the coils as it had a new powerhead and spark plug before storage. I need to know the torque settings for the flywheel when putting it back together as i dont want to damage it as i am a newb to all this.

My understanding for the rebuild im.going to do is this engine is the following:
J6C spark plug as J6J is discontinued
gap for spark plug is 0.030
gap for coil points are 0.020

are the above correct?

also if someone can advise what the compression reading should be (want to test and restore this so it can go another 40 years!).

anyone reccomend checking anything else whilst i have it open?

help is much appreciated, thank you in advance

Possibly all it needs to get spark is clean and set the breaker points. Anyhoo, flywheel nut torque is 22-25 ft/lbs. A really good one will have 80psi compression. Anything in the 70's is ok though

Yes on the plug & points gap
