Johnson 300GT/How can I find out the year?

I recently bought a Johnson 300GT from an elder gentleman. My problem is, I do not know what year it is so I can not buy a manual for it. I need to know where to look for the serial number(s) or other identifiers. I am sure you can tell what year it is from the serial and/or the model number(s). If you know where to look, please let me know. If you have a manunal on ot I would be interested in buying it from you. My phone # is 941 302 8975 and my email is jts@accusys.net. if you got a title it should be there. if no it could be on mid bracket in the form of a sticker.

The model number is also stamped on the freeze plug.

Did you take it to Steve at Creek Marine to have him look at it?

i did take it to creek marine and steve did look at it. The problem is that he 'thinks' it is an 88. Also he does not have time to look at it for 2 weeks from this wednesday.<br />With that said, the freeze out plug reads G235237<br />Can you figure out the year with that?<br />There is also another number that I found on the rubber peice that is between the powerhead and the outside plastic casing. The number is 333740<br />Does that mean anything and can anyone decipher them numbers into a year? I have no spark and need to buy a power pack and a manual to troubleshoot possibly faulty wiring. I also did not get a title with the engine, so that wont help me. If you have anymore ideas, i will appreciate it. thnaks for all you guys that have replied to this posting. <br />Thanks in advance, jts

It should be a single pack mounted on top and to the rear of the powerhead. The 85 to 87 models had two packs. <br /><br />Take the pack loose and post the numbers on the bottom of the pack. <br /><br />BTW -- motors dont have titles in Fla.<br /><br />Good luck!
