hello all, I have a 30 hp johnson tiller handle. the question i have is, the shift lever links up with a plastic piece, the actuator cam, number 41 in diagram.http://www.marineengine.com/parts/j...0REDE&manufacturer=Johnson&section=Midsection in the second diagram, item 79 hooks up to item 41 of the first diagram.http://www.marineengine.com/parts/j...urer=Johnson&section=Cylinder+&+Crankcase what exactly does this do and is it absolutely necessary? the hole were it hooks up to in the actuator cam has broken out and no longer contains the link. i have not ran the motor other than in yard and everything seems to shift still. thanks for all replies.

Re: Johnson 30hp

I think that is your netrual safety switch, prevents you from starting it in gear.
