Johnson 35 HP 1977 seahorse. No spark.

So, replaced the stator and power pack, no spark still. Followed the wire diagram and I'm currently replacing each wire just in case I have one that's corroded internally. My question is, the general makeup of the motor is the exact same as the 76 model, except for the cd2 power pack. Is it possible for me to remove that part and wire it like a 76? The 76 models are much easier to wire and I cannot for the life of me see any reason why I couldn't make this work. It's a 35r77c and seems to be initially different from any engine in any manual. Halp!

What seems to be different on your motor from the factory manual ?----Any pictures of what seems different ?

Ok, so no pictures because I cannot take any that would be less than 2mb. But, what I am missing in the wiring diagram are the 3 yellow wires that run from the stator to the terminal block where they screw in with the other wires that run to the rectifier. I'm getting no spark still and I'm not sure if this stator is any good now or if I have fried it. How do I test the stator? I gave it a Google but all of the videos I get have ppl testing either newer stators or motorcycle stators. I appreciate your help!

Most people want to trash the '76 and replace it with the '77 ignition. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Anyhow, the three yellow wires have nothing whatsoever to to with ignition spark. They are for charging the battery.
