Hi I just took this boat I bought out for the first time and it seemed to smoke a little more than all the other boats on the water. Is there any reason for this? It is a 1968 Chrysler boat I'm pretty sure it's the original engine but not positive. They said it was rebuilt. Can this be a mixture of gas and oil problem.Any help is appreciated. thanks.

Re: Johnson 35 Sea Horse

Johnson made 35hp from 1957-59 and didn't make any more until 1976. Due to the design, materials, etc, the models from the 50's used a richer oil mix than the later ones. So if it's from the 50's, then it will smoke more if it's being fed the correct gas/oil mix. If you get the model number from the metal tag on the transom clamp, we can tell you exactly what the mix should be.

If it is not a chyrsler engine, most likely it is not the original engine! Post the model number from it and you will get more info.
