I pulled the flywheel and both points seem to have been replaced recently since they look new and both are opening. The exterior of the coils however are all cracked up. I'm assuming I should just replace the originals with brand new ones since they are only about $20 a piece(?)
In the meantime, I just reassembled the motor until I get the parts ordered. So I did a spark check again and sure enough, that top plug fires hot and blue for a few pulls and then ceases to fire. Does that sound most likely to be a coil issue, a symptom of something else or a compound problem? Thanks for your help again!

At the price just replace the coils.
NAPA has a large E/J parts selection.
Good luck.
