Anyone have any tips to replace a rubber hood seal? Appears it is stapled on. Do I straighten the staples to remove the old seal? How about installing a new seal? New staples? Must be a special stapler?

The 1991 JOHNSON factory brochure shows the commercial models with those decals.

I wouldn't actually call them "staples". Straighten them and pull them out. Then replace the seal. Then carefully bend them back. Easy peasy. Every time I restore a motor and cowl I remove the rubber and service the rest.

If they are broken or trashed they need to be replaced. If not, treat them with vinyl protectant and put them back on.
