johnson 55hp TRL-105 tell tail?

should a 55hp johnson mod # trl-105 have water coming out above the water line as i'm used to seeing,or does it all come out of the prop? haven't tried the hand on the head test for too much heat test yet.

found out it is a 1968 if that helps.
