Today I bought a fuel pump# 0438559 and removed the VRO from my 99 Johnson 60hp. The service mgr at Evinrude store gave me backwards instructions on Fuel-In and Fuel-Out hookup on the new pump, after callimg him later he admitted his mistake.I had already tried to prime it and crank engine several times. I then reversed and corrected the fuel connections but after priming bulb, fuel is spewing from somewhere on the back of the pump. Did that backwards hookup and reverse pressure likely blow the internals of the new pump?

Is there a gasket between pump and block, is this a two line or three line pump?

You have 2 threads going on the same subject ???
If the new pump is leaking out like that then it is now no good. That is summising that you are hooked up correctly now.
When you think you have it correct when you either repair your new pump or replace it again, disconnect the pump to carb hose and crank it over into a container to check function.

you have 3 connections, the black plastic is the in line for fuel. the middle connection is the fuel to carbs, the back connection is the pulse line from block.

red pluse
gray in from tank
green to carbs.
