I have a 1972 Johnson 65 HP that shut off like someone turned the key off. I immediately tried to start it but, the battery was so low, it would not crank the engine. The battery did have plenty of power, when I started out, to crank and start the engine. Although the remaining life of the battery was questionable, it will not take a charge now. I mention all of this, because I’m not sure if it could have caused any damage to the electrical system of the engine. I’ve since replaced the battery and there is power to the solenoid and the engine will crank fine when the key is turned, but there is no spark. The fuse is fine and there is no corrosion or loose connections that I could find. What should I check next and how do I check it?
