Welcome to Iboats

I hope you ment 50:1 mix there! Check spark - should jump 3/8" gap. If that doesn't work, make up some 50:1 mix in a spray bottle like a windex bottle, spray it down the carb's throat and see if it won't start on that.

This will answer the question, is it fuel or spark?

There were many different ignition systems in the 70s. Check the port transom bracket for a nameplate with a model number, or failing that perhaps the silver convex plug pressed into the engine block near the spark plug end.

I had a similar problem with my 4 hp Rude. The carbs. are so small on these engines, that I think my fogging oil plugged the jet in the carb. I dissassembled the carb., cleaned, and reinstalled. Everything was ok. I would say when you fog these engines, try and get your spray beyond the jet and near the throttle plate. Any other suggestions.........?
