Hi,
This is my first time in this forum. I´m planning to buy a used Johnson 75hp stinger. Motor is all redpainted. I have a few questions. What is the difference between a "Stinger" and a regular Johnson 75hp ? Why the name Stinger ? I presume the motor was sold only in the seventies, True ?? Are there any known common problems with this motor that I should know about ?

Thanks from Sweden
Matt

Hey Matt
Welcome to the board.
The boys here will probably need a little more info namely model number and serial number. There should be a plate riveted to the transom mount with some numbers on it. Post these numbers back and someone here might be able to help.
Good luck

Howdy, Matt. The "Stinger" name was a name only, for marketing purposes. It is identical to other 3 cyl. 75s except for the paint and decals. All 75s were re-rated and slightly hopped up 70s.

Very good engines way ahead of their time when introduced, and still made as 60s and 70s only.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)
