Does anyone know if cylinder liners/sleeves are available for this block?
It has already been bored out to 3.030" and it has recently fried a piston due to water getting into cyl.2.
After a search on wiseco I believe the max oversize I can get is 3.040" is this in fact the largest i can go?
My machine shop has said that the cylinder is slightly out of round and would need bored out to more than 3.040 which basically means my block is scrap unless I can get sleeves for it.
Its an old outboard, but too much money has been spent on it to simply scrap it or sell it for parts. Everything else on this outboard has been overhauled or replaced so I want to try everything possible to get it back to life.

My questions are -

Are sleeves available for this outboard?
is 3.040 the max size it can be bored out to?
Does anyone know where I can look for a replacement crankcase/block assy? (i already try ebay every day?

Maybe an important note - I live in the U.K.

Any advise would be really appreciated.

L.A. Sleeve makes them. .040 is the largest you can go nobody makes a larger piston than that walls would be to thin.

It will be cheaper to find a different block and have it bored vs labor/cost of replacing sleeves

I have to agree with faztbullet. I would look for a donor block and go from there. You can buy sleeves, but then the original sleeve has to be cut out and the new one installed and then it has to have the ports cut out as well. So, yes, you can install new sleeves, but a donor would be the better cheaper route to go. JMHO!

Thanks for all the replies, after everyones advice and speaking to the machine shop I will in fact just source another block.

Would I be right in saying the 70hp and 75hp blocks are compatible with each other? is it just the ports and cylinder head that are different?
