Re: johnson 9.5 coil plate loose

there is a bushing in the plate but i dont think its changeable. i had 1 that was lose and did not see any way to get it out to change it. it looked like it was molded into the plate.and just worked lose. i had a doner engine that i got 1 off of that was in pretty good shape. how much movent are you talking about ??? i ran the points up on the cam lobe and looked to see how much my play moved the gap on my points. the old plate i had would totally close them when the plate moved just right (up and down) i have alittle movent in both of my other engine but nothing like my old plate. does your engine run well ??? let us know.also there is a place on the top of the head that holds spring and peice of plastic.that rides on the plate.it puts alittle pressure on the plate that helps it from moving all around that was missing off my old engine and the doner engine had 1.i put it on and it helped out alot.
