Good Evening,
I have a 1980's Johnson Sailmaster 9.9 that is short shaft and where the cavitation plate ends is about 3 inches above the bottom of the boat. From what I have been reading it seems easier to buy a new / used boat motor, but I have 2 of the 9.9 and an older 5.5 Johnson, they were all my dad's and I would like to keep them. I could cut the back of the boat down, but really don't want to do that......................I have come across something called a Kicker Mount, but I am not sure that this would work with trying to steer the boat by hand. Any ideas out there on what would be the best/easiest thing to do? Thanks, Dave
