hey all..
im just trying to identify the approximate year of a 9.9 that is coming with a boat i just bought. i got the boat from a friend and its currently at his barn so i cant pull a serial number off of it. im just trying to figure out approximate value because i am probably going to upgrade the boat to a 20-35 horse outboard in place of this motor. im guessing its a mid 80's of some flavor, but i cant find any pics to support my guess. i know they made this style of 9.9 for a while though

cool...thanks guys!

any idea what it would be worth in perfect working order...runs great, pumps water well, super clean. i have only personally owned and sold motors that were 1975 or older lol

I'd take the boat out with that motor before deciding whether to sell it. You might get another 5 mph with a bigger motor, but how many miles do you need to travel? The boat and motor look like they've been will cared for.

i had a 10 horse on the back of my last 16 ft jon and its not about speed for me...its nice to have the extra power when pushing a lot of weight while duck hunting. especially if ice breaking is involved. i much preferred having my old 18 hp on the back of the boat in strong winds with a lot of gear in the boat and personally, i would hate to bang up a good motor like this on a duck rig. i may still keep it around for summer fishing, but really my main use for the boat will be hauling duck gear

i just recently payed $550 for a 94 View attachment 179194 it's been upgraded to 15hp and electric start not sure if that effects the value much, i should add, i hunted months for this deal, in that time i have seen them as high as $1400, medium around $800 and as low as $200 the condition varies with price
