Hi everyone! I'm thinking about purchasing a 1975 Johnson 9.9 10R75C that has new points, condensers, timing plate bearing, spark plugs and new grease in the lower unit. Also, has 90+psi compression in both cylinders. Seller is asking $675. I have checked Nada and it shows a low retail of $560 and a high of $683. I know Nada is mostly a guide so I thought I'd ask for some opinions. Thanks!

I would love to sell some at those prices !!----------If you can do your own work it might be a good deal.-----If you have to go to a shop you might go bankrupt !!!

I guess. I've been searching for a 10hp outboard for a few months now and I have seen em run from around $200 (usually has some kind of issue) to around $800 without regard to brand. So I guess it's priced about right.

You are definitely not getting a bargain.

If I were you I would focus on a 1977 or later to avoid the points and condensers. Just my preference of course. That motor is useless for trolling so if you want to do any of that, look for the 1977 or later models.

Just my opinion of course. I do own the exact motor by the way. If you buy a 1974 to 1976 9.9Hp/15Hp Evinrude and you are fanatical about maintenance, which would include changing spark plugs every two years for sure, removing the flywheel and re-adjusting and then cleaning the points, every three years (or any year you skip using it for a season) and decarb the motor at the end of every season,... and do not troll, the motor will serve you fine.

Or you could find a 1977 to around 1990 and basically just change the lower unit oil every so often and the thing will last you for 50 more years no matter how you use it.

Yeah, I don't wanna be doing g that. I think I'll wait for a 77 to 90. Sounds much better. Thank you for the input.
