Johnson 90 Trim Pump Motor Stalls?

Hi, I have a question regarding my trim pump motor on my Johnson 90 1989 J90TLCEM, is it normal for the trim pump motor to almost stall at the extreme tilt up and trim down positions. It’s worries me that if someone held the trim switch in the above positions for too long it would burn the motor out. Is there a pressure relief valve that should work in these positions?

Thanks in advance and again for your previous input on other posts.

To OBJ, I like the sound of “OBK”

Re: Johnson 90 Trim Pump Motor Stalls?

while its not good to stall the motor there is a thermal overload device inside it. sometimes they trigger and never reset sometimes they dont work and melt the wires.
dont let anyone play with the buttons. but when the rams are extened or retracted the hydrulic pressure has to go someplace so they bleed it through a relief valve. dont keep the motor in a stalled condition :) :)
good luck and keep posting
