Hello everyone I’m Recently new to boating. I inherited my 1st boat last summer (1989 procraft 1660v) . Never had any major issues but twice boat alarm came on 2 separate times when loading back up. Today went to start for the 1st time since November and boat alarmed with just turning switch on. (Engine cold). Could someone lead me in the right direction on finding the problem. TIA!

Model # of the motor ?--------Perhaps the alarm horn itself is bad.----Or a bare wire.---Or a bad sensor.----Oil injection in service , yes or no ?

Update: turned switch on today, no alarm. Fired up ran maybe 45 seconds and alarm went off again. Shut engine off and just turned the switch on alarm was back. Everything I been reading it still can be a bunch of different things. I’m not sure when the last time water pump was replaced planned on doing it before warm weather got here either way.

Don't wait. Change out the impeller. Then disconnect the oil harness, and run on a portable tank with 50:1 premix.

[edit. In addition, plug the oil line at the motor. Will need to troubleshoot. Was the motor overheating (odor, head too hot to touch)?]

No. It was alarm 1st time trying to start since November soon as I turned switch to ON without turning engine over. Second day no alarm until it fired up and ran maybe 45 secs to a min then alarm came back

It's not the alarm that should be your first concern. It's what the alarm is meant to warn you about -- overheating or under lubricating.
