I have recently purchased a Johnson 90HP V4 sea horse. It is runnig fine but needs a service. However, it is consuming 3 gallons of fuel in less than one hour. Is this normal and if not what may the problem be?

Depending on what throttle setting the engine is consuming the 3 gal. of fuel and how close to an hour of run time is less than 1 hour , the consumption sounds normal.2 stroke outboards by relative standards drink gas . That engine would normally use around 6 gallons or more at full throttle setting{5500 rpm) in an hour.Good luck.

O'Brien.
