i bought a 82 model johnson was told 1 cyl had low compression tested and 3 cylinders are 100 to 110 port side bottom has near 0 if it could be a stuck ring what should my next step be thanks for any advice
It will most likely be a broken ring / damaged piston.-----But it could be a blown head gasket.----Remove the 10 or so bolts and have a look.------Every one of this style of engine will suffer from broken rings.----Have 10 or more lined up in the shed for parts / rebuild !
well racerone it is a broken ring guess the next thing is to mike the bore to see if it been bored before any other suggestions i live in eastern ky don,t know any experienced boring shops thank you for your help
Opinions vary.-----I consider these crossflows to be fine motors once properly rebuilt.-----They run smooth are easy to repair / maintain.------You do not need the $100+ / hr shops to work on them.
