Hello,

I recently had to install a new ignition switch on my 77 Johnson Control box. When I did this the ball (part 30) that keeps the shift and throttle plate (part 37) from fully seating. I have taken the little cover off and pulled the spring out trying to get these back together but can't figure out how to connect outside panel (shift arm side) to the inside panel while keeping this ball in place.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It's tricky. I've used a strip of pliable steel, seal picks, a strip of tape etc etc. Worse if the spring is bent or there's old grease and dirt all over. It's one of the things where experience helps a lot but I don't know how to spell that.

The original spring was bent so I bought a replacement and also cleaned up the inside of the controls while I had it apart. I will try tape or something of that nature.
