Johnson Evinrude compatible

Anyone know if a 1960 Johnson 5 1/2 hp lower unit will work with a 1966 6 hp evinrude powerhead.<br /><br />Thanks

i have a 62 5.5 fisherman and a 68 6.0 johnson. they look similar on the outside. i was thinking the lowerunits would interchange a few weeks ago. check the shaft lengths and spline count to be sure. they also disassemble in a like manor. i'm pretty sure they will.
