I have a 1979 johnson 100 lower unit. Will this fit a 1973 evinrude lower unit? Is any of it compatible?

The '73 has a hydraulically assisted shifting system that operates the linkage "backwards" than the '79 all mechanical shift gearcase. Shift rods are even different.

They have different bolt patterns. All 1978 and newer V4's, any 1977 140 as well as 1977 25" V4's will bolt up to your 1979.

If you feel like getting a little crazy, the V6's and V8's have the same bolt pattern also. That makes propping a little challenging.

Good luck!
