Hey Guys!

I’ve been looking long and hard both here and on many many other forums but no luck so far.

Maybe it’s due to English being my second language or lack of knowledge of correct technical terms so I hope any of you guys can help me out.

I have a Johnson 20hp from 89 which has served us well but now I need to do some swapping of parts and I am trying to figure out between which years I need to search for donor engines?
Buying new parts here in Sweden is out of the question due to the crazy high prices.

So, between which model years shall I search for donor engines for my 20hp from 89? I may have found a 25hp from 82 and I can see that some parts are the same or at least look very similar but in general, between which years can I find parts dor my 89 20hp? Also, which engines can I use as donor engines for my 20hp? I know that 20/25hp and possibly also 30/35hp may be used but I am not sure about this.

I’ve read about the conversions of 20hp to 30/35hp but not anything else about swapping parts between a 20hp and other.

Need a new tiller with cables and all, need the plastic components on the starboard side of the engine (see pics) and also some other small things like a missing screw here and there.

Thanks!

Jim

Here is a little trick that I use to find parts from other engines. Go to most any website that offers such engine parts. Then look up your part and get that part number. Then you can do either of these ideas to find that part. First you can search for that same part number on the web and see who offers it. And you can also see what other engines use that part. You can also see the part being used on all engines of either Johnson or Evinrude that used that part from some of the venders. It gives you an exact model and year and HP of the engine it will fit on. Then you can use that list to look for used parts that way. Just an idea.
